Privacy Policy

The Count helps you keep track of how many alcoholic drinks you have each day and share that with a small group of friends. What you record is personal, so we collect as little as possible and never sell it.
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in and send your daily check-in.
- Your display name, which your groups see.
- Your daily drink counts, including the optional beer, wine, and liquor breakdown.
- Your settings: time zone and when and how you want your daily reminder.
- A push notification token for your phone, so we can send reminders.
- Locker Room messages you post, which only members of that group can see, and any reports or blocks you make.
- Your replies to check-in emails. We keep only the number you sent, not the email itself.
- Sign-in attempts. When someone asks for a sign-in code for your email address, we record the address, the time, the IP address it came from, and the app or browser used. This is so you can tell whether a sign-in email was you. We never record the code itself. These records are deleted after 90 days.
We don't use advertising, tracking, or analytics tools, and we don't collect your location or contacts.
Who can see your data
- Your groups: people in a group you've joined can see your display name, your daily totals, and your current streak. They cannot see your drink-type breakdown or your email address.
- Locker Room messages are visible only to members of the group you posted in.
- No one else. There are no public profiles, and nobody can look you up.
Services we use
We use Amazon Web Services to run our servers, store data, and send email; Apple Push Notification service to deliver reminders; and an error-reporting service to fix crashes. Error reports never include your drink counts. These providers handle data only to run The Count for us. We never sell or rent your data.
Keeping it safe
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. There are no passwords to leak: you sign in with a one-time link or code sent to your email.
Deleting your data
You can edit or clear any day at any time. You can delete your account in the app, which permanently erases your account and all your data. You can also email us and we'll delete it for you.
Age
The Count is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
